Robert Knaus ca. 1970
Born 21st January, 1900 in Vienna, studied acting at the Burgtheater Akademie, Wien; he was self-taught as a painter, lived in Munich from 1940, also lived and worked in nearby Regensburg.
Robert Knaus moved to Spain in 1943 where he married in 1947; he emigrated to Venezuela (Caracas 1949-1952) then lived in Valdivia, Chile, until his return to Europe in 1963.
With wife Elena, had 3 daughters (Birgitte, Marlene and Renata) and son Tilman Knaus. The family travelled extensively.
Robert Knaus was also an avid collector and antiquarian.
In 1971 Robert Knaus visited Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa and Windhoek, Namibia.
Robert Knaus passed away on 17th January, 1975 in Freiburg i.Br.
